Description:
Proper termination of play therapy services must be attended to in order for children and families to have opportunity for healthy closure of the therapeutic process and relationship. This 2 hour training will review the ethical importance of appropriate termination in play therapy and will provide a variety of techniques and activities therapists can utilize to provide children and families the chance to say goodbye.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be prepared to demonstrate the following after attending this training:
- Explain the importance of healthy and appropriate termination of play therapy services.
- Cite the relative professional ethics code that addresses the process of termination.
- List 10 play therapy termination activities.
- Describe how to provide termination when the therapy ends more abruptly than planned for.
