Supporting Stressed Parents During COVID19 in Child & Family Telehealth Therapy May 11 OR May 15

During a time of crisis such as this COVID 19 pandemic, we are finding it more important than ever to include parents as a part of the child’s therapy. With parents having to work from home. direct their children’s schooling at home, maintain effective parenting strategies AND attend to their own self care, many parents are feeling more stressed than ever. In this 2 hour live online training, we will be examining ways therapists can build into the treatment plan specific counseling support strategies for parents while also facilitating therapeutic experiences that assist children and parents to maintain healthy connections during this time of crisis through telehealth therapy.
This training offers 2 hours of NBCC CE hours. This is not a play therapy training.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- List 5 key reasons child and family therapists working with child clients need to enhance and expand on services provided that more directly support parents as part of the treatment plan.
- Name 10 specific clinical strategies that child and family therapists can implement to effectively support parents as part of the child client’s treatment plan.
- Describe how utilizing a combination of client centered and directive psycho-educational approaches work well together in assisting parents of child clients.
- Write an effective treatment plan for a case scenario that includes strategies presented in the training.
