Essential Oils for Summer

Mental health, emotional health and physical health go hand-in-hand in what I call “holistic wellness.”  As part of the mind-body-spirit approach I have in my work, I like to offer many different avenues for exploring more natural, balanced wellbeing.

This is a great time of year for me to introduce you to the many ways you can use essential oils for summer to support your holistic well-being for home and family.

I’m bringing together a collection of great tips, nifty DIY home recipes for skin and health as well as product recommendations and easy links where you can order your supplies so you are armed and ready for summer, naturally!

Essential oils are not only useful for aromatherapy but many can be applied to the skin and some can be taken internally.  Be sure to check out these safety precautions when using essential oils AND read about how to be sure your essential oils are pure! What you put in your skin absorbs into your body….

Don’t let the bugs bug ya!

Insect repellent – many essential oils can be considered all purpose insect repellents such as citronella, lemongrass, cedar, eucalyptus, lavender and patchouli.

You can order any of these single oils very affordably from one of my favorite companies Mountain Rose Herbs.

I highly recommend investing in a couple of powerful certified pure therapeutic grade blends to have on hand for application to skin. I want to point you toward one of my other favorite resources

doTerra is a company that has many blends that can be applied directly to the skin OR mixed in a carrier oil (or even witch hazel).
Terrashield and Purify are wonderful blends of oils that repel mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and other insects.
Keep the ants away with peppermint oil. Just put a drop of peppermint at the location where the ants are coming in or apply to a small piece of cotton.

Get rid of pantry moths with rosemary oil. Rub rosemary oil into the walls and shelves of your pantry to keep those pesky moths away.

Ban cockroaches from your home with basil oil. You can mix 10 drops of basil into 4 ounces of water and 1 ounce of castile soap into a spray bottle or you can put a few drops on a cotton ball and place strategically where roaches are commonly hiding.

Stay Refreshed with Natural Deodorant

For a soothing, cooling, deodorizing experience, mix the ingredients in these recipes in a glass bottle and dab on under arms with a cotton ball or your finger tips.
