On Monday December 7 at 11:00 am Dora Henderson, LMHC, RPT-S will present a one hour class called EMDR based Art Activities as part of the 2020 Play Therapy Mini Master Class Series.
When children have traumatic experiences, the brain has a difficult time properly processing the memories of the traumatic event. EMDR helps the brain organize and process the trauma experience so that children can experience growth and healing.
Dora Henderson will be teaching us some playful art activities that are connected to the work of EMDR to help children in this one hour mini master class on December 7. Her creativity, delightful nature and true passion for play therapy will no doubt be inspiring in this one hour class.
Dora is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Play Therapist. She has specialties in Sand Tray Therapy as well as EMDR and owner of a private practice called A Safe Place, LLC in Longwood, FL.
Dora’s passion is working with both children and adults, encouragingly standing by the side of her clients as they make their way through their healing journey one step at a time. She received her Master’s degree in Counseling from Webster University, graduating with honors and went on to continue her education in Play Therapy from The University of Central Florida. She is an LMHC Qualified Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). Dora is a Certified Sand Tray Therapist having completed 10 levels of advanced training. Why sign up for this class called EMDR based Art Activities with Dora Henderson?
When we are working with children who have experienced trauma or are experiencing high levels of stress it can often be important to introduce playful activities that allow children to experience relief from stress symptoms without need for verbalization through creative and expressive activities.
