Meditation: Private Sessions & Classes
The word “meditation” means so many things to different people.
In it’s most basic definition, to meditate means to consciously choose to sit with yourself and just BE rather than doing and thinking.
Recent scientific studies show that the practice of meditation changes the brain in wonderful ways affecting ability to have greater balance, more focus, increased compassion, less anxiety, improved well-being.
I’m Lynn Louise Wonders and I’ve been practicing and teaching meditation for 25 years.
I explain to my students that the most important part of your meditation practice is to approach your meditation with a lot of reverence and deep respect for all of Nature – Nature within and Nature all around you everywhere. This sets the mind and invites an integration of your spirit/essence to come together with mind and body in the present moment.
As I practice and teach it, meditation is not intellectual contemplation rather entering into a state of surrender to what IS and simply allowing, gently observing and just being. This practice observed regularly helps us to RESPOND calmly rather than REACT when tough stuff arises in daily life.
Meditation allows us to create a space in which emotional healing can occur. Through regular practice we feather a nest internally that allows us to go inward and be held while the very force of life we have can rise and move as needed. Sometimes tears come. Sometimes we become aware of anger we’ve been repressing. Sometimes our wiser inner self will provide insight we otherwise have not been aware of.
Mindfulness and meditation are something you can do anywhere once you establish your own practice. I teach meditation in a way that is practical. A regular practice can help you discover what it’s like to see the world you actually have, not the one you think you are missing, and to live the life that is yours to live in its fullness, moment by moment and day by day.
After leading group meditation classes on Sunday evenings since 2003, I am currently taking a break from leading classes.
Private Sessions are Available
Whether you simply wish to learn how to meditate or whether you are seeking support and the healing benefits from meditating with a long-term meditation instructor, a private session may be just what you are looking for.
These sessions take place in my private meditation studio (location provided when you schedule) and are separate and apart from counseling/psychotherapy services though complimentary if you are already in therapy. Contact Lynn personally to discuss whether a private session might be a good fit for you.
Private sessions are available in person and are tailored to your individual needs depending on where you are in your meditation practice. I offer beginner, intermediate and advanced level private instruction and support.
Private sessions may be one hour or 90 minutes. I require a 15-20 minute telephone consultation in order to determine if a private session with me is a good fit for both of us. The fee for private sessions are on a sliding scale depending on financial circumstances and commitment to the practice.
