All live webinars are provided by Wonders Counseling Services, LLC, an APT Approved Provider #12-321 and they provide CONTACT Play Therapy Training Hours toward your RPT/RPT-S or for your renewal purposes.

All webinars provide video presentation, opportunity to ask questions and comment via chat box and handouts emailed to participants in advance. Participants are not on camera and are muted to eliminate background noise for the quality assurance of recording of presentation.

Play Therapy Approach to School Refusal

This 2 hour webinar is hosted by Lynn Louise Wonders and presented by Rose LaPierre, LPC, RPT-S, ACS. It counts for 2 hours of contact play therapy training toward RPT.

School Refusal is a challenging problem to manage.  The goal of the workshop is for you to learn how to take the lead role immediately and develop comprehensive play therapy based strategies on getting the child back to attending school on a regular basis.  Whether you are a school counselor or therapist you will learn play-based interventions and play therapy strategies to help  support the family and child in the common goal of attending school.

Play Therapy with Children Experiencing Grief and Loss

This 2 hour webinar provides an overview of what a child typically experiences emotionally, mentally and physically when experiencing the loss of a loved one, a pet, a friend or the grief and loss experienced when having to move away from familiar school, family and friends. We will discuss how play therapy can assist a child in moving through the process of grief and loss and we will review ways to help care-givers use play based interventions at home and school to assist the child’s process.

Play Therapy with Tween Girls (ages 10-12)

This 2 hour webinar looks at the use of play therapy interventions with girls ages 10-12. They are no longer little girls but their not quite adolescents and this developmental stage can require a special playful approach in order to build the all-important rapport between therapists and child and develop a play therapy treatment plan that will help girls this age address and work through the issues causing them difficulties.

Understanding a Child’s Brain Through Play Therapy

A  introduction to a child’s brain development and how a child’s behavior and expressions can be better understood and addressed with this understanding. This 2 hour webinar is an excellent first step to understanding the basics of the more complex field neuroscience in relation to treating children in play therapy. Play Therapy and the Perfectionistic Child

When a child feels pressure to be perfect, to do everything perfectly, whether it comes from an external source or internally, it can wreak havoc on a child’s ability to function as a happy, normal child. In this 2 hour webinar we will explore the nature of this very specific kind of anxiety and when it may cross over into OCD. We will look at how to use play therapy to assist children with perfectionism to create new ways of of thinking, seeing and behaving so that they can have a more relaxed and joyful quality of life.

Facilitative Play Therapy Interventions for Children with Emotion Dysregulation

When children habitually become flooded emotionally, cry and scream readily and seem to be unable to calm themselves we call this “dysregulation.” This 2 hour webinar will address the neuroscience of dysregulation as well as how particular directive and facilitative play therapy interventions can assist in helping children learn how to self-soothe, how to regulate and develop skills for problem solving and adaptive expression.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will receive a basic overview of brain development and brain functioning as it relates to child clients coming to play therapy with high levels of emotional reactivity.
  2. Participants will learn 15 facilitative play therapy interventions for the play room to help children experience a cooling off of the overheated emotional mid-brain and an ability to then learn new skills for problem solving and adaptive expression which yields an experience of mastery and empowerment.
